"R enjoyed her lesson very much and we really appreciated the fact you listened to her interests, and your child-centred approach. It is very evident you have a lovely way with kids. I was especially impressed with the fact you get the children to pursue their own interests and be creative." 5 year old student's parent, 2014

"As a recently retired (very) mature student with no musical skills, training or knowledge whatsoever, learning to play the saxophone with Elaine Ruby has (much to the amazement of friends and family) enabled me to pass ABRSM grade 1 exam within less than one year. Lessons have ranged from formal instruction in the rudiments of notation through learning basic scales, playing popular tunes and singing along. By explaining and demonstrating fundamental practical principles, Elaine has certainly taught me a lot. I have grasped the concept of embouchure, discovered that incorrectly opening one’s throat produces a squeak and been encouraged to improve my fingering. My early steps on the learning path have been strewn with mistakes and frustrations yet Elaine has showed considerable patience and tolerance (and importantly a sense of humour). Her manner is positive and I suspect that she has quite effortlessly adapted her teaching methods to deal with a rather difficult student (that’s me). Where once I was apprehensive about my lessons I now look forward to our weekly sessions. Playing together as a duet is one of the most enjoyable aspects of our time together but I am also delighted when Elaine accompanies me on the grand piano. I have no hesitation in recommending Elaine to anyone wishing to develop their interest in the saxophone." GR, 2014

"I really like Elaine. Elaine was really kind, & understanding. She was amazing at piano. I would recommend her." NT age 11, 2013

"Elaine was a great teacher, she let me do the pieces that I wanted to do. She was always enthusiastic. I always enjoyed learning with her. " MT 16 year-old student, 2013

"Elaine was a breath of fresh air. A pleasure to deal with. Friendly, patient, & always encouraging. Both my daughters enjoyed learning from her. I couldn't have wished for a better teacher." 16 and 11 year old students' mother, 2013

"Elaine is a skilled and enthusiastic teacher, she is also reliable and a good communicator. My daughter (soon to take grade five) has progressed well under Elaine's tuition, she finds her lessons fun but still challenging. She always understands her targets and what practice she is expected to do. I would be happy to recommend Elaine to anyone." 13 year old student's mother, 2014
